Harborline Health Partners acquires and grows founder-led healthcare businesses — bringing institutional rigor, deep sector expertise, and a genuine partnership orientation to every transaction.
About
Harborline Health Partners is a healthcare-focused private equity firm pursuing acquisitions of founder-led and family-owned healthcare businesses across the United States.
We bring a flexible and patient approach to every transaction — prioritizing alignment with founders, thoughtful deal structures, and a genuine commitment to building enduring businesses rather than extracting short-term value.
Our focus is narrow by design. We have spent our careers investing in healthcare businesses across the lower middle market. We are not generalists dabbling in healthcare — this is all we do.
"We seek out businesses built on a foundation of quality care and trusted relationships — and partner with their founders to build something more enduring."
Harborline was founded by a healthcare investor with nearly a decade of experience at two institutional private equity firms — Galen Partners and Affinity Partners — collectively managing over $6B in assets under management. That experience is the firm's core competitive advantage.
Investment Strategy
We pursue acquisitions of founder-led healthcare businesses where our deep sector knowledge, institutional experience, and flexible approach to capital create a differentiated advantage for both buyers and sellers.
Our investment universe spans the full healthcare landscape — from services and technology to medical devices and life sciences — wherever we find durable businesses with strong fundamentals and the potential to grow with the right partner.
We are not defined by a single sub-sector, payer mix, or business model. We are defined by our expertise in healthcare and our conviction that the lower middle market remains significantly underserved by dedicated, sector-focused capital.
"Healthcare is not one market — it is many. Our edge is the breadth of experience to recognize value across the spectrum, and the focus to act decisively when we find it."
We target businesses with $10M+ in revenue and $2M+ in EBITDA, and are flexible on deal structure — prioritizing alignment with founders over rigid process. We evaluate opportunities nationally, with an initial pipeline concentrated in the Southeast.
Investment Criteria
We are straightforward about what we seek. If your business fits this profile — or is close to it — we want to hear from you.
Founder-owned or family-owned businesses. We are particularly well-suited to serve as the first institutional capital partner — bringing structure and resources without disrupting what makes the business great.
Revenue of $10M or more and EBITDA of $2M or more. We are flexible on these thresholds when the business has clear growth momentum or a compelling platform opportunity.
Established operations with a track record of quality care, strong referral relationships, and a recurring or contracted revenue base. We prioritize reputation and clinical integrity.
Healthcare businesses across services, technology, and life sciences — including home care, behavioral health, physician services, medical technology, pharma services, and healthcare IT.
We are sector-focused rather than geography-constrained. While our initial pipeline is concentrated in the Southeast, we evaluate attractive opportunities nationally.
We are flexible on timeline, structure, and deal size. We can move quickly with minimal friction — no investment committees, no lengthy approval chains — and tailor structures to meet seller needs.
Sectors of Interest
We invest across the full healthcare landscape — from services and technology to medical devices and life sciences — wherever founder-led businesses are building durable value.
Software and data businesses that power healthcare operations and decision-making — including electronic health records (EHR), revenue cycle management (RCM), clinical decision support, care coordination platforms, population health analytics, and healthcare cybersecurity.
Businesses delivering patient care and support services across the continuum — including home care, behavioral health, hospice and palliative care, physician practice management, ambulatory and outpatient services, senior care, value-based care, and occupational health.
Medical devices, diagnostics, and equipment businesses — including point-of-care diagnostics, surgical instruments and tools, monitoring devices, imaging technology, and durable medical equipment (DME) manufacturers and distributors.
Contract and specialty pharmaceutical services businesses — including specialty pharmacy, compounding pharmacy, contract research organizations (CROs), regulatory consulting, clinical trial support, and pharmaceutical distribution and logistics.
Technology-driven businesses that enhance the delivery of care — including telehealth platforms, remote patient monitoring, AI-assisted clinical tools, digital therapeutics, and virtual care models that extend provider capacity and improve patient outcomes.
Technology businesses serving health insurers and managed care organizations — including prior authorization automation, claims processing, member engagement platforms, utilization management tools, value-based care analytics, and healthcare payment integrity solutions.
Team
Founder & Managing Partner
Mike is the founder of Harborline Health Partners and brings nearly a decade of institutional private equity experience focused exclusively on healthcare investing.
Prior to founding Harborline, Mike was a Principal and Head of Healthcare Investing at Affinity Partners ($4.5B+ AUM), where he led sourcing, diligence, and portfolio management for healthcare transactions. Before Affinity, he was a Vice President at Galen Partners ($1.5B AUM), one of the longest-tenured healthcare-dedicated private equity firms in the country, where he served on the boards of Evolve and SMP Pharmacy.
Mike holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. He founded Harborline to apply institutional-grade healthcare investing expertise to the lower middle market — a segment he believes is significantly underserved by dedicated, sector-focused capital.
Our Approach
We are not financial engineers. We are operators and investors who understand how healthcare businesses actually work — the staffing dynamics, the regulatory requirements, the payer mix sensitivities, and the human relationships that underpin care delivery.
When we acquire a business, we work alongside management to build something more durable — not extract value and exit. We are patient, long-term-oriented, and willing to invest in the talent and infrastructure required to scale responsibly.
These are illustrative parameters. We evaluate opportunities on their individual merits and will consider businesses outside these ranges when the fit is compelling.
